Course Description
This course is designed for professionals working in the construction industry who aim to participate in projects of all sizes effectively, in a variety of roles. With weekly modules discussing planning, estimating, scheduling, procurement, contracts, and much more, this course provides additional skills to assist in the management of people, materials, and equipment efficiently. Our course meets the needs of professionals working across the industry, who are interested in understanding more about the management of construction projects. Course Modality and Structure
The course is primarily set up as 15 modules delivered over 15 weeks. The weekly class meetings are virtual, synchronous and asynchronous; therefore, you can expect to interact with the professor and fellow learners (5 times). The rest of the time you are completing work asynchronously (on your own).
Schedule Breakdown
This course is virtual and hybrid (synchronous and asynchronous). Most of the work will be conducted asynchronously through our learning platform. While the course is listed as meeting on Thursdays, it does not meet live every week. Instead, there are five mandatory live Zoom sessions on the following dates:
October 30, November 20, January 8, February 5, and February 26
On weeks without a live session, students are expected to complete online coursework independently through our learning platform.
Student Engagement and Participation
This course is rigorous and requires virtual attendance, participation and submission of assignments. Please allot time for readings and/or video reviews, and completion of assignments on your own (asynchronously). Please note that this course grants a Certificate of Completion at the end.
Course Pre-requisite
Registrants need reliable internet and a computer with audio and video capabilities. They must also have basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (such as creating and utilizing a spreadsheet and maneuvering columns and rows). Basic math, including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, and geometry. If a refresher on that subject is needed, please review videos on YouTube and/or LinkedIn Learning.
