Providence Journal: Housing again takes health care center stage
Confirming the importance of zip code to well-being, Blue Cross/Blue Shield to support five community organizations
PROVIDENCE — In yet another indication that where one lives has a profound influence on individual and collective health, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, the state's largest insurer, is awarding a total of $200,000 to five housing-related organizations.
“Extensive research shows that housing is a crucial factor influencing not only health outcomes, but also, significantly, school performance,” Blue Cross president and CEO Kim Keck said in announcing the grants.
