PROVIDENCE — Housing advocates met Friday morning to celebrate the $9-million rehabilitation of the former Advent Apartments, now renamed Dean Street Studios, at 344 Washington St.

The building now includes 51 supportive housing units for disabled and formerly homeless individuals, as well as new clinical offices for the Kent Center for Human and Organizational Development, which will provide residents with on-site support services through its Housing First RI staff.

The building formerly had 57 studio apartments for chronically homeless people, many with physical or mental disabilities. Rhode Island Housing had originally financed Advent Apartments in 1997 but later took possession of the development from financially troubled Advent House Inc.
