STATE HOUSE - Rep. Scott A. Slater's (D-Dist. 10, Providence) legislation (2018-H 7316) that would require the General Assembly to appropriate $5 million annually for affordable housing development was heard by the House Committee on Finance this week. The committee voted to hold the legislation for further study.

“It is not a secret that we in Rhode Island have an affordable housing crisis that is getting worse every single year. People are being priced out of living in their communities on a daily basis and if we want to keep our younger generations living in Rhode Island, they first and foremost have to have access to housing that they can afford. We have to invest in affordable housing on a continuous basis and this legislation will accomplish this crucial goal,” said Representative Slater.
