PROVIDENCE - Four Providence-Warwick-Fall River and New Bedford metropolitan area housing authorities and two public housing resident associations were awarded a combined $1.9 million by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD announced Tuesday.
The funds, designated from the Resident Opportunities and Self Sufficiency - Service Coordinators program, will be used to help grantees hire or retain service coordinators who work directly with residents to access their need and connect them with education, job training and placement programs, and/or computer and financial literacy programs to promote self-sufficiency.
