Newport This Week: End of Eviction Moratorium Puts Tenants at Risk

During the majority of the COVID-19 pandemic, a federal eviction moratorium allowed hundreds of thousands of people to remain in their homes. But that safety net will end on Oct. 3 after the United States Supreme Court ruled on Aug. 26 that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which issued the moratorium, overstepped its authority when it issued a temporary ban on evictions.
