LINCOLN – Work has begun to transform vacant space in Lincoln’s historic Saylesville Mill complex into a 45-unit apartment community.
Changes began taking shape at 90 Industrial Circle at the start of summer after the property was purchased for $1 million by Waltham, Mass.-based Dakota Partners.
Abandoned mattresses strewn across the vacant, littered property have been hauled away along with other trash and debris. Loading docks have been removed from the front of the brick building, and the soil below will be tested and analyzed for contaminants such as asbestos.
Next, Town Planner Al Ranaldi expects the developer will be remediating asbestos from a crawl space below the floor of the circa-1860 building.
Billed the Lincoln Lofts, the project calls for the conversion of the Sayles Company Mill Store House and Packing building into 30 one-bedroom apartment units and 15 two-bedroom units.
