Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director, Housing Works RI (HWRI), the Rhode Island Alliance for Healthy Housing (RIAHH) Program Manager will work in close partnership with other HWRI employees, members of the HWRI Advisory Boards, members of the Roger Williams University community, and other policy organizations and state and municipal public agencies.

Essential functions of this position include but not limited to:

Research and Policy

• Work with the Research and Policy Director, Housing Works RI in all aspects of research and data analysis to inform public policy relevant to housing in Rhode Island.
• Promote dialogue about the relationship between housing and the state's economic future.

Outreach and Engagement

• Manage RI Alliance for Healthy Homes (RIAHH).
• Facilitate agreement among the leadership of the RIAHH regarding goals, objectives, and funding plans.
• Facilitate agreement among RI Housing stakeholders regarding our approach to improving the health, safety, and energy efficiency for all Rhode Islanders' homes.
• Create mechanisms for RIAHH to amplify the voices of communities who have previously been unable to participate in housing policy decisions.
• Find more connections across sectors and among the many perspectives on housing challenges.
• Build out partnerships with state and non-government agencies working on relevant issues by meeting with agency leadership.
• Lead RIAHH Executive Steering Committee through on-going strategy dialogues to guide programs and identify funding resources.
• Support the RIAHH Executive Steering Committee membership and leadership.
• Promote awareness and action opportunities for collaboration across sectors and design interventions that build towards shared outcomes and improve the lives of Rhode Islanders.
• Support partners' events and activities and lead in-person meetings, public engagement events, creative conferences, and other events.
• Manage digital media (website, social media, online news media), RIAHH newsletter, and list serv within the HWRI Constant Contact account.
• Represent HWRI on various boards and committees in coordination with the Director.
• Present HWRI reports and information to policy makers, community partners, and other interested groups.
• Identify new opportunities, topics, and partners for HWRI projects and publications related to healthy housing.

Organizational Staffing and Operations

• Hire, manage, and supervise interns and volunteers.
• Establish a strong fundraising strategy and implement sound financial controls to ensure that the RIAHH becomes a reliable resource for the housing, public health, and energy efficiency communities.
• Measure the impact of RIAHH on RI residents and partner agencies in order to understand what kind of return on investment this project delivers.
• Seek grants and other funding resources from Rhode Island-based funders, as well as regional and national foundations, government agencies, municipalities and donor collectives.

Requirements:

Prerequisite Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
• Two to four years of experience in policy analysis and research.
• Experience facilitating cross-sectoral or cross-disciplinary coalitions.
• Effective problem solving skills and great attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and without close supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related discipline.
• Willingness to challenge oneself and a good sense of humor.
• Experience using social media and use of the web as a communications tool.
• Appreciation and understanding of housing issues in Rhode Island.
• Knowledge of how housing policy intersects with other issue areas such as education, health, and the economy.

This is a grant-funded position with a current 3-year commitment.

Salaries for new hires at Roger Williams University usually fall between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range.
