Town Officials Move Public Meeting to Address Housing Issues in SK Online

The Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation awarded a $150,000 grant to the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale in South Kingstown.

Planning officials are looking to South Kingstown's residents to weigh in on the types of homes that will best suit their diverse needs and align with the town's housing goals.

The Town of South Kingstown has begun an effort to ensure that everyone n the community has the opportunity to live in the types of homes that best suit their needs. The "Home Style SK" initiative, which requires community engagement, will help the town determine exactly what its housing needs are.

The Town Council in South Kingstown met Aug. 13 with members of the town’s Housing Authority to review challenges the body, and the town, face in trying to provide affordable housing.

With the preservation of open space and affordable housing availability both recognized as crucial elements to South Kingstown’s vitality, is it possible for the town to successfully achieve both?
