Despite recent proposals, Middletown, Portsmouth still well below affordable housing requirement

Town Council members say they want to deal with the challenges ahead for the town in the coming year, but do it in a way that keep property taxes affordable for residents.

On Friday, March 15th , the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission (AIPC), in conjunction with Connect Greater Newport and HousingWorks RI, brought the Aquidneck Island communities together in a Smart Island event to address housing issues at CCRI-Newport.

The Aquidneck Island Planning Commission hosted a forum last Friday focused on Aquidneck Island’s housing issues.

The need for affordable senior housing has been on the Middle­town Town Council docket since April 2017.
