East Main Road safety drives Town Center plan

PORTSMOUTH — The state supports efforts for safety improvements to the “Town Center’ section of East Main Road, but for now at least there is no money to pay for it."

That message was delivered to the Town Council on Monday, May 3, by Bob Smith, head of the state Department of Transportation’s road design section. He said the state simply has no funds at the moment to pay the estimated $10 million to $15 million cost of the project, although that may change in the future.
