Last week, the Pawtucket Citizens Development Corporation (PCDC) and their partners offered a tour of a new three-story, mixed-use building that is part of the Blackstone Valley Gateways development. PORTSMOUTH — The state supports efforts for safety improvements to the “Town Center’ section of East Main Road, but for now at least there is no money to pay for it."

That message was delivered to the Town Council on Monday, May 3, by Bob Smith, head of the state Department of Transportation’s road design section. He said the state simply has no funds at the moment to pay the estimated $10 million to $15 million cost of the project, although that may change in the future.
