Coalition Honors Exemplary Work
Published on March 30, 2011
On Monday, the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless hosted their Annual Awards luncheon paying tribute to the exemplary work of those individuals whose contributions lend support to creating a Rhode Island that refuses to let any man, woman or child be homeless.
Themed Courage to Change, this year's event focused on the hard work already being done and the critical need for a permanent funding source to continue to address the pressing needs of our residents.
Honored at this year's event were:
John Joyce of the Rhode Island Homeless Advocacy Project who received the Senator Jack Reed Advocacy Award.
Susan Jarosz of Family Resources Community Action who was posthumously honored with the Carol McGovern Award.
Flo Jonic, a reporter with WRNI, who received the Media Award for Outstanding Coverage.
James Gillen, Manager of The Providence Center's Recovery Services and Anchor Recovery Community Center who received the Judy Soares & John Coen Award.
Attorney Stephen Miller, a volunteer with the Homeless Legal Clinic, who received the Homeless Legal Clinic Award.
Congratulations to all of the award recipients and to the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless for their tireless efforts on behalf of so many Rhode Islanders!
