Statewide open-houses of affordable properties!

On Saturday, June 11th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join non-profit developers across Rhode Island as they host open house events for their affordable housing currently available for sale.

Open houses will be held at the following locations:

BARRINGTON:
Walker Farm Lane, 562 County Rd., new houses priced from $146,200 to $210,000. A model home will be open. The developer is West Elmwood Housing Development Corp.; contact Jasmine Peters, 453-3220, ext. 20.

Lead Funds Announcement: $3.1M for Rhode Island

The availability of $3.1 million for lead paint hazard control and lead awareness programs in Rhode Island was announced at a news conference Monday morning at Rhode Island Housing. Attending alongside the many supporters present were U.S. Senator Jack Reed, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representative David Cicilline.

Neighbors Oppose Wind Turbine

BRISTOL — Neighbors of a Bristol businessman hoping to build a 118-foot-tall wind turbine in his back yard have come out in force to oppose the plan. Joseph Coelho, the owner of Safe-Way Auto Sales at 61 Gooding Ave., has asked the Bristol Zoning Board of Review for permission to install the turbine. The board held a lengthy public hearing Monday night but failed to make a decision after the meeting ran too long.

Mr. Coelho was the first applicant on the meeting’s agenda, but the public hearing lasted so long, the board postponed the issue until its July meeting.

Appraisers Begin New Revaluation Process

BRISTOL — A private company hired by the Town of Bristol began moving through town this week to update the assessed values of properties for tax purposes. Appraisal Resource of Warwick is conducting a statistical revaluation for the town, with initial efforts focused on every property that changed hands since Jan. 1, 2008.
