Statewide open-houses of affordable properties!

On Saturday, June 11th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join non-profit developers across Rhode Island as they host open house events for their affordable housing currently available for sale.

Open houses will be held at the following locations:

BARRINGTON:
Walker Farm Lane, 562 County Rd., new houses priced from $146,200 to $210,000. A model home will be open. The developer is West Elmwood Housing Development Corp.; contact Jasmine Peters, 453-3220, ext. 20.

Lead Funds Announcement: $3.1M for Rhode Island

The availability of $3.1 million for lead paint hazard control and lead awareness programs in Rhode Island was announced at a news conference Monday morning at Rhode Island Housing. Attending alongside the many supporters present were U.S. Senator Jack Reed, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representative David Cicilline.

Barrington sponsors affordable home development

The Town of Barrington, West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation (WEHDC), the state Housing Resources Commission, and Rhode Island Housing, along with their community partners, broke ground on a development for 12 working families this week.The Town of Barrington purchased the 1.8 acre parcel of land near the intersection of County Road and Eleanor Drive specifically for the development of affordable homes.

In a press release issued at the ground breaking on Wednesday, Barrington Town Manager Peter DeAngelis noted the challenge of building affordable homes in the community, but added that “forming partnerships working towards this goal has proven to be effective and rewarding.”

Groundbreaking in Barrington

On Wednesday, November 3 at 1:30pm, join the Town of Barrington, West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation (WEHDC), and Rhode Island Housing, along with their community partners, for a groundbreaking celebration at Walker Farm Lane in Barrington.

When construction is complete, this development will consist of 11 single-family homes and one duplex, providing working families with beautiful new homes they can afford.

This site is located at the corner of County Road (Rt. 114) and Eleanor Drive in Barrrington. Parking will be available at East Bay Center.

Providence Business News: Housing bond generates broad economic activity

In it he quotes Albert Valliere Jr., president of Nation Wide Construction, who likely would have laid off 60 percent of his staff if not for the $8 million deal to construct Sweetbriar, an affordable housing development in Barrington.
