Dio's Story
Click here for the Quicktime video. Diogenes Martinez Dio Rodriguez, 16, lives in an apartment in Woonsocket’s Constitution Hill. "I like Constitution Hill because of all the great opportunities I get. They help me to succeed in life. I have a job now. I’ve lived here for about 2 years. Growing up, the bills were high. Over here, the bills are affordable. There are a whole bunch of programs so kids can stay out of the streets. We have tutors, arts and crafts, jewelry making, and field trips in the summer. Just yesterday, we went to Canobie Lake Park. That was an experience for me – I had to take care of 5 kids. Every day you get a new experience – it’s always a new adventure. I’ve created a lot of bonds with people – neighbors, leaders in the community. They have influenced my life a lot. I’m in school, I’m going into 11th grade, and I’m thinking of going to Bryant University. We have a family atmosphere here at Constitution Hill. We all get together some days.
