“50 Days, 50 Stories” Launch Builds Momentum for Vote Yes on 9
A crowd of supporters gathered Monday to launch Vote Yes on 9’s "50 Stories, 50 Days, 50 Reasons to Vote Yes" in the back yard of an affordable home on Smith Hill in Providence.
Vote Yes On 9 is featuring 50 Rhode Island stories – one for each day between the launch and Election Day – highlighting the difficulties many families have in affording a house or apartment, the high-quality of affordable housing today, and the importance of home to all Rhode Islanders.
Kenneth and Erika Hill, the first of the campaign's 50 Stories, spoke at the event about the importance of Question 9 for young Rhode Island families like their own. Governor Donald Carcieri, Lieutenant Governor Charles Fogarty, House Finance Chairman Steven Costantino, Providence Mayor David Cicilline, and Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin urged the audience to vote yes on Question 9 on Election Day.
The event garnered great media coverage statewide. Television channels 6, 10, and 12 covered the story, and more than 100,000 households tuned in for newscasts on the day of our launch. Read the Pawtucket Times article and Providence Journal article.
