VY9 television commercial premieres at “Cast Party” honoring 50 Rhode Island families
Over 100 people gathered at the Roger Williams Park Casino last Wednesday for a Hollywood-style Cast Party and premiere of Vote Yes On 9’s television commercial.

The Rhode Islanders that shared their housing stories with Vote Yes On 9 walked a red carpet, posed for paparazzi-style photographers along a velvet ropeline, and dined on “homestyle” food, including a mashed-potato bar, meatloaf, and fluffernutter sandwiches.

The commercial is airing on all major broadcast networks and across Cox Cable networks through Election Day.

If you have not caught it on television, you can check out the Vote Yes On 9 commercial online.

The commercial features five of our 50 stories. The Munoz family bought their home in Pawtucket after taking a homebuyers course from Blackstone Valley CAP. Shelley Graham lives at Harbor House, Church Community Housing’s affordable apartments for seniors in Newport. Brenda Flores rented an affordable apartment from the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corporation (WNDC) before buying her first home. Architect John O’Hearne has designed many affordable homes throughout the state. And much of the commercial was filmed at the Woodridge Estates home of Sue Oliver, who appears with her son Matthew.

We’re at 50!
Meet Kelli. She and her husband moved back to Cumberland two years ago. She grew up in Rhode Island and wants to put down roots here, but she’s afraid she’ll never be able to buy a home.

Meet Sacha and Mike. They are staying with Mike’s parents in Cranston – and waiting to start a family – while they save up to buy their own home.

Meet Dasha. She and her husband rent in Bristol. Due to the high cost of homes in Rhode Island, they have decided to move to Pennsylvania after Dasha graduates from law school.

Meet Olympia and Adrian. They're on the Board of Westerly's North End Crime Watch, a neighborhood association that’s taking back the neighborhood from drugs, crime, and neglect.

These are just four of our 50 Stories of Rhode Islanders who are struggling to find affordable homes, have successfully found a home of their own, or are rebuilding their communities. Check out all 50 stories for 50 reasons to Vote Yes On 9.
