Bond backers pack State House at huge rally
Last week, hundreds of Rhode Islanders descended on the State House in support of the $75 million bond for housing.
The rally marked the culmination of The Journey Home, a five-day march from Westerly to Providence. The march built incredible momentum and enthusiasm for the HousingWorks RI platform, thanks to impressive participation, press coverage and community support.
"I am so proud of this Journey Home - an action that is both protest and prayer," said Rabbi Alan Flam, a HousingWorks RI Steering Committee member, at an interfaith service held along the march route. "By opening our hands, our hearts and our minds, by once again reclaiming our place in the world of policy and politics, we have the opportunity to repair the world."
Thank you to everyone who participated in The Journey Home and the rally last week. Let's hope the General Assembly heard your message.
