Support for housing bond pouring in from across Rhode Island
Over the last several weeks, people from Westerly to Woonsocket, average Rhode Islanders to CEOs, have spoken out for the $75 million housing bond.
- Four Chamber of Commerce leaders supported the bond in an op-ed in Monday's Providence Journal. "Can Rhode Island have a booming economy if it can't actually house a booming economy?"

- HousingWorks RI took out a full-page ad in today's Providence Journal. "To the General Assembly: It is time to put the $75 million housing bond on the ballot...Let the voters decide."

- The lead editorial in this week's Providence Business News called on legislators to put the $75 million housing bond on the November ballot. "It's about job creation and the long-term health of the state."

- Leading bank presidents submitted an open letter to the General Assembly in support of the bond. "As bankers, we believe that the state's economic future depends on that $75 million booster shot."

- 16 cities and towns and 9 mayors and town managers from across the state have formally endorsed the bond as a means for solving the housing crisis in their backyards. The endorsers: Barrington, Bristol, Burrillville, Charlestown, Cranston, Exeter, Jamestown, Lincoln, Newport, North Kingstown, Pawtucket, Providence, Scituate, South Kingstown, Tiverton and Westerly; Mayors Avedisian of Warwick, Cicilline of Providence and Moreau of Central Falls; Town Managers Wood of Burrillville, Kerbel of North Kingstown, Abbruzzi of Warren and Bauer of West Warwick and Town Administrator Kempen of Middletown.
- Nearly 1,500 Rhode Islanders signed endorsement forms, asking Governor Carcieri, Speaker Murphy and Senate President Montalbano for the opportunity to vote on the bond in November.
The message is clear. Let the voters decide. $75 million for housing on November 7th.
