Join HousingWorks RI to kick off bond campaign
HousingWorks RI will join legislative leaders today to kick off the campaign for a $75 million bond for housing.

The press conference begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Senate Lounge at the State House. The Senate Finance Committee will hear the HousingWorks RI policy platform after the press conference at 4:30 p.m. in room 211.

Too many Rhode Islanders have lost the American dream of a decent home in a good neighborhood. It's time for immediate and unprecedented action - and a $75 million "booster shot" to lead the way. HousingWorks RI is committed to generating the momentum needed to get this bond on the November ballot.

Legislators talk strategy with HousingWorks RI members
Our thanks to Senator John Tassoni (D-Smithfield, North Smithfield), Senator Juan Pichardo (D-Providence) and Representative Tom Slater (D-Providence) for discussing their legislation in support of the HousingWorks RI policy platform Monday morning.

The legislators joined HousingWorks RI members to talk political strategy, catch the Speakers Bureau presentation and get an update on the latest campaign plans.

Bank executive cites housing as business concern
John Warren, CEO of HousingWorks RI member The Washington Trust Co., cited high housing costs as one of his top four concerns about the business climate in Rhode Island at last week's University of Rhode Island Financial Symposium.

Warren was one of seven bank presidents to author an op-ed* in the Providence Journal last June on the threat of housing costs to Rhode Island's economy.
