The Block Island Times: Four apartments proposed for Harbor Church

The Harbor Church is seeking Town approval to convert the unused third floor of its Water Street building into four one-bedroom apartments to be rented year-round at “below-market” rates. If completed as proposed, the new apartments would be counted toward the Town’s state-mandated quota of affordable housing units.

The Valley Breeze: R.I. Housing expands First Down program

Cranston Herald: 11 years of providing hope for homeless

On Saturday, Nov. 4 people from all walks of life who are homeless or in need were bused from Kennedy Plaza in Providence to Praise Tabernacle Church in Cranston for the 11th Annual Hope for the Homeless event. Hundreds of homeless individuals arrived at the church for food, informational vendors on where to seek help and, new this year, HIV testing, flu shots, lung age analysis and Hepatitis C testing.

Penney takes over the post from Lou Raymond, who is set to retire later this year after 15 years of service to the Charlestown non-profit organization, a branch of the nationwide non-profit which seeks to provide affordable, quality housing for all.

ProJo: Providence Housing providing jobs training for over 200 residents

More than 200 residents of the Hartford Parks and Manton Heights public housing developments have enrolled in Jobs Plus, a grant-funded program run by the Providence Housing Authority.
